E Solutions Clients Tout the Virtues of Newest Data Center

Renovations are complete at E Solutions Corporation’s newest data center, where several of the firm’s marquis clients – including the 2006 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals – are already enjoying the security and high availability offered by one of thenation’s premier data centers.

“We are happy to know that our intellectual capital is hosted and protected in one of the nation’s premier hardened facilities,” said Cardinals Vice President and Assistant General Manager John Mozeliak. “E Solutions has been a trusted development and hosting partner since 2003, and we are glad to be counted among the current clients in their new data center.”

The Tampa-based hosting and application development firm tripled its data center capacity in February with the acquisition of Genuity, Inc.’s Tampa assets.  Since then, E Solutions has made significant capital investments in renovations and upgrades to meet the Uptime Institute’s requirements for Tier Three classification. These upgrades make the new data center ideal for companies with high-availability requirements such as financial, healthcare and news organizations, as well as technology-based and VoIP companies, emergency and other government agencies.

The Uptime Institute developed a four-tiered classification system for infrastructure functionality that has become the standard for the uninterruptible uptime industry.  Classifications range from Tier One – having system component redundancy and a single power distribution path – to Tier Four, with fully redundant (N+1) system components and dual active power distribution paths delivering 24x7x365 services in highly competitive market spaces requiring extremely high availability. There are only a handful of Tier Four data centers nationwide.

 “Our renovations focused on re-engineering our redundant power distribution paths and outfitting the data center with new environmental and monitoring systems necessary for a level of redundancy, high-availability and system integrity that is second to none in the region,” said E Solutions CEO Richard Nicholas.  “Combine that with our physical location on Tampa’s two high-priority power grids, a concrete reinforced bunker surrounding the exterior of the data center, Kevlar-reinforced walls, and a facility designed to withstand major hurricane force winds, and our facilities are physically able to withstand man-made or natural disasters.

“We have the highest level of redundancy available, which allows us to provide our clients with both physical security and the expert technical staff to support them throughout any event,” he added.

To prepare its newest data center for occupancy, E Solutions spent eight months:

    * Replacing telco switch gear and installing new N+1 Parallel UPS systems with bypass capabilities and monitored Power Distribution Units
    * Enhancing the power grid to provide 13.8 kV utility input voltage, which is transformed through their own dedicated substation to ensure multiple paths for utility power to the N+1 UPS system
    * Upgrading the cooling systems, including seven 20-ton Liebert Air Conditioning units with redundant glycol loops, multiple pumps and dry coolers
    * Testing and maintaining functionality for two 800kW Caterpillar generators and ASCO automatic transfer switches

E Solutions is housed inside the region’s ‘Telco Hotel,’ which provides direct fiber connectivity to the firm’s diverse carriers burstable to OC192, and on top of the global telecommunications infrastructure, so bandwidth can quickly be added to its private conduits as necessary. The data center also features surveillance and around the clock monitoring, as well as state-of-the-art physical security.
