Tampa's premier provider-independent Internet Communications Service Provider, E Solutions Corporation announced today that it is opening an Internet Exchange (IXTampa.com) located in Tampa’s Telco Hotel at 400 North Tampa Street, Suite 700. IXTampa will serve as a neutral Public and Private peering location for Layer 2 and IP circuits. IXTampa’s location at 400 North Tampa Street provides instant connectivity to and interconnectivity between all major Internet Providers in the Tampa Bay Area. Connectivity to all major internet providers in the Tampa Bay area provides the opportunity for an important decrease in costs for local businesses with large numbers of local users accessing their websites as well as Internet providers. IXTampa’s offering is uniquely suited to lower the Internet bandwidth costs and Internet performance for national sports teams based in Florida, prominent local news organizations, and VOIP carriers. IXTampa now provides an opportunity for these businesses to send their traffic directly to their end users via peering arrangements with the Internet providers. Interconnectivity between providers allows them to save transit costs on traffic between their networks and increase performance by mitigating latency between networks.IXTampa operates between bandwidth providers using Internet Protocol (IP) and allows the providers to exchange IP and Layer 2 traffic via the peering point, which is located in E Solutions’ state of the art Tier-3 data center."We are delighted that our location, telco-neutral position, and IP network competency have put us in a position to operate IXTampa for the Internet bandwidth providers. Previously, Bandwidth providers had no single location where they could readily and securely connect with each other. With IXTampa, Internet bandwidth providers can now simply connect to a common peering point to improve performance and reduce costs for their customers." said Richard E. Nicholas, CEO of E Solutions Corporation. The realization of this initiative is a key milestone in delivering higher performance and more cost effective internet connectivity services in Tampa. From a larger cooperation perspective, the peering point is a result of a committed multi-party effort to move closer to the goal of making Tampa a leading Internet Hub.
